Mission
Our mission is to create a world where all children are given the full benefit of love and science from birth. We envision mothers and fathers who are empowered to become more active caregivers, and tools that make it easier for parents to put findings of cutting-edge research on early childhood development into practice in a way that feels natural and right. We believe that this will help build societies that are resilient, empathetic, and prepared to meet personal and global challenges.
Approach
We believe that we aren't only working with kids; we are also shaping future adults. #BabuiTip introduced 'gentle parenting' behaviors and philosophy for Bangladeshi parents. We provide age-specific suggestions for how parents can engage with their children to stimulate learning and cognitive development.
Problem
60% parents in Bangladesh grew up witnessing or experiencing violence as children in their homes. Many perpetuate these behaviors as adults, and lack resources for culturally appropriate, positive parenting. Parents make a lot up as they go, drawing from their own experiences, advice of others, and a lot of trial and error. Babies' brains are ripe for learning and exploring, but a lot of times traditional parenting techniques prioritize discipline and sitting still. Around 80% children under eight subjected to at least one form of physical or psychological punishment by household members. In particular, parents who experienced physical punishments or violence in their own childhood may struggle to find more positive ways to engage with their children. Like other learned behaviors, parents' actions turn into habits.
Impact
1000+ active parents pledged of 1 million by 2025 from Bangladesh and abroad.
